Living and breathing in the Second City
There’s some risk in the Cub’s choice to pick up Jon Lieber, but his numbers are good and he knows how to pitch at Wrigley so it’s hard to imagine anything negative about this move. It’s about time Hendry started going after pitching. I hope we can pick up one more vet before March.

1. Dempster in all likelihood will NOT be an effective starter
2. Marquis in all likelihood will be an INCONSISTENT starter (if he’s not traded)
3. If the Cubs do sign Brian Roberts from Baltimore, trading away Marshall & Gallagher, the Cubs will DEFINITELY need pitching
4. For the record, I would like to see the Cubs PASS on a Brain Roberts deal.
Welcome back Jon Lieber.
