Living and breathing in the Second City
So I’m really starting to like the idea of a Ron Paul Independent candidacy. This is not because I would vote for the guy necessarily, but because we desperately need some intervention in our existing party system.
Can you imagine a three-way race between Clinton, Paul and Huckabee. Believe it or not, Paul would actually have a shot. Huckabee is going to get great turnout from social conservatives, but most libertarians and centrists, currently in Guliani’s camp, will likely peel off and go for Paul. On the left, Paul might be able to steal the anti-war vote from Hillary. This is not to mention all of the people out there who might show up to vote just to send a signal to the existing party structure.
If Paul didn’t win, he would at least do better than John Anderson’s 8 percent in 1980.

and then moves on.
