Amen, Dan. Of course, I'm a bit of a hypocrit I suppose ... as I'm part of the "industry."

Let us remember that the Founding Fathers idea of representation involved a farmer, or a lawyer, or merchant, (any number of careers/jobs at the time) running for Congress to best represent their areas/towns/states, and hopefully help their areas out. Sure, there was self-interest involved, but ultimately political office was viewed as a "service" to country; not as a life-time job as long as the apathetic voters continued to elect them. George Washington begrudgingly became President, and gladly left office to return to his farm. Perhaps I am out of touch, but I would love to see more candidates commit to only serving a term or two, try to get accomplished what they and their constituents elected them to accomplish, and then go back to private life. I know, I'm out of touch and delusional as it pertains to politics in the 21st Century.
